This refresher training is designed for:

Staff members of nurseries, pre-schools, primary and secondary schools, 6th forms, and colleges.

Staff in academies, free schools, independent, non-independent, and faith schools, as well as universities.

School governors, volunteers, and any organisation with responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, or vulnerable adults.
Ideal for: Those needing up-to-date knowledge and skills in line with Ofsted requirements and the latest Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.

Course Content:

This is a basic refresher course for participants who may, or may not have foundational safeguarding knowledge. It is tailored to client needs and covers the statutory requirements recommended by Ofsted in line with Keeping Children Safe In Education - KCSIE.
Topics include:

Procedures, guidance, and legislation updates.

Aims and objectives – achieving best outcomes.

Recap session – checking prior knowledge.
-
Understanding vulnerability – significant harm and recognising abuse.

Thresholds & barriers – effective information sharing.
-
Roles and responsibilities of all staff.

When to act – recognising signs that require intervention.
-
Record keeping – maintaining accurate, secure documentation.

The referrals pathway – understanding what happens next.

Case studies & practical exercises – applying knowledge to real-life situations.
Duration:

One-day course: 9:00am – 4:00pm.

Half-day Course 9:00am - 1:00pm

Often scheduled on school INSET days for convenience.
Certification & Renewal:

Certificate of Attendance awarded at course completion.

Recommended refresher every 2 years.
