Safeguarding Awareness for Casual Staff & Volunteers

 

Who Should Attend?

This course is designed for:

  • Casual staff entrants and volunteers.

  • Parents and volunteers attending school trips or school journeys.

  • Anyone with responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, or vulnerable adults on an ad-hoc basis.

 

Where is the Course Held?

  • Delivered at your place of work.

  • Online - Via Zoom Link Provided. 

 

Course Content

This is a short, introductory course, tailored to the needs of organisations and participants. It highlights the responsibilities of staff and volunteers in recognising and responding to immediate safeguarding concerns, ensuring that children and young people are protected at all times.

Topics include:

  • Defining safeguarding – what it means in practice.

  • Course aims – responsibilities and expectations.

  • Essential policies – what you need to know.

  • Onsite procedures – understanding the basics.

  • Vulnerability, significant harm, and recognising abuse.

  • Roles and responsibilities of all staff and volunteers.

  • When to act – spotting concerns and taking action.

  • Who to share concerns with – reporting lines.

  • Record keeping – simple, accurate documentation.

  • Referrals pathways – what happens next.

 

Duration:

  • Half-day course: 9:00am – 12:00pm.

 

Certification & Renewal:

  • Certificate of Attendance awarded at the end of the course.

  • Recommended refresher every 2 years.

  • From £350 per course.
