Staff in 6th forms, colleges, academies, free schools, independent, non-independent, and faith schools, as well as universities.

School governors, volunteers, and any organisation with responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.

Course Content
This is an introductory safeguarding course, tailored for staff with little or no prior knowledge of safeguarding procedures. It equips participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognise, respond to, and protect those at risk of significant harm.
Topics include:

Procedures, guidance, and legislation.

Aims and objectives – achieving best outcomes.

Understanding vulnerability, significant harm, and recognising abuse.

Thresholds & barriers to effective safeguarding.
-
Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance.
-
Sharing information appropriately and effectively.
-
Roles and responsibilities of all staff.
-
When to act – recognising signs of concern.
-
Record keeping – maintaining accurate and secure documentation.
-
Referrals pathway – understanding how to escalate concerns.

Case study and practical exercise – applying knowledge to practice.

One-day course: 9:00am – 4:00pm.
