Prevent Training: Extremism & Radicalisation Awareness

 

Who Should Attend?

This training is designed for:

  • All teaching and non-teaching staff in schools, colleges, and universities.

  • All new and existing staff within public bodies, including:

    • Independent and non-independent schools

    • Free schools and 6th form colleges

    • Youth Offending Teams

  • Any professional with a duty of care to safeguard children, young people, and vulnerable adults from the risks of extremism and radicalisation.

Course Content:

This course is organisationally led and tailored to the needs of each client, with delivery adapted to different learning styles. It equips staff with the knowledge and skills to identify and respond effectively to risks of extremism and radicalisation.

 

Topics include:

  • Defining extremism and radicalisation.

  • Legal duties of all public bodies, schools, and colleges.

  • Understanding the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act.

  • Expectations of your organisation under Prevent Duty.

  • Identifying the problem – signs and risk factors.

  • Action plan – the three main steps.

  • When to act – recognising triggers for intervention.

  • Case study and practical exercise – real-world application.

  • “What has this got to do with me?” – personal responsibility.

  • Recording and reporting correctly.

  • Referrals pathway – knowing where and how to escalate concerns.

 

Duration

  • Half-day course: 9:00am – 1:00pm.

 

Certification & Renewal

  • Certificate of Attendance provided at the end of the course.

  • Recommended refresher every 2 years.
