Course Content:
This course supports staff working with girls and young women by highlighting the issue of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C) and its impact within the UK. It aims to change perceptions, raise awareness, and emphasise that safeguarding against FGM is everyone’s responsibility.
⚠️ Please note: This course carries a Health and Safety First warning due to the sensitive nature of the topic.

Definitions – understanding FGM.

Background & prevalence in the UK.

Common beliefs and cultural perspectives.

What the law says – including the Serious Crime Act.

Case studies & practical exercises.

Identifying those at risk.

Safeguarding responsibilities – your role in protection.

Recording and reporting correctly.

Referrals pathways – ensuring the right action is taken.

Half-day course: 9:00am – 1:00pm.
Certification & Renewal:

Certificate of Attendance awarded at the end of the course.

Recommended refresher every 2 years.
